The Beaches

My trip started with the beautiful beaches around Udupi. There’s something magical about playing beach cricket with the waves crashing nearby. The view from our resort was stunning—endless stretches of golden sand meeting the Arabian Sea.

St. Mary’s Islands

One of the highlights was the boat ride to St. Mary’s Islands. These islands are famous for their unique hexagonal basalt rock formations, formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. The crystal-clear waters and the geological wonder made it an unforgettable experience.

Varanga Lake and Jain Temple

The Varanga Lake Jain Temple was a peaceful retreat. The ancient Jain temple sits beside a tranquil lake, and taking a boat ride around it offered breathtaking views. The temple’s architecture and the surrounding serenity made it a perfect spot for reflection.

The Paddy Fields

Driving through the countryside, I was captivated by the endless paddy fields. The vibrant green stretches, swaying gently in the breeze, painted a picture of rural Karnataka at its finest. These views reminded me why slow travel through the countryside is always worth it.

The Miraculous Pond

I also visited a pond that locals consider miraculous—a place steeped in legends and local folklore. Whether you believe in miracles or not, the peaceful atmosphere made it a lovely stop.

Final Thoughts

Udupi is more than just a temple town. It’s a destination where you can experience the coast, explore ancient heritage, and lose yourself in nature’s beauty. If you’re looking for a trip that combines spirituality, history, and natural landscapes, Udupi should be on your list.
